Healing Art

In recent decades, my family has been blessed by the care givers and health services of Spectrum Health. As we have endured an onslaught of serious health concerns, they have been a major part of our treatment and healing all along the way. From our hometown to the big city GR complex, Spectrum Health has demonstrated a heart for healing in so many ways.

One of my favorite aspects about the various centers on Michigan Street in Grand Rapids, is the plethora of art in their halls and on their walls. I have become so familiar with these masterpieces that I use them to help me navigate the maze of floors and corridors.

Plus the variety and quality of the art you find at the main hospital, children’s hospital, and heart center is breath taking. Rather than letting stress and worry take hold, I take time to admire the various paintings, photos, and sculptures that greet me around every corner.

What would be some ways we could introduce more pieces of art throughout other Spectrum Health clinics and hospitals in West Michigan?
