Fit and Fun in Newaygo County!

Starting in my hometown of Fremont, there are many options for staying healthy and active this winter right here where we live. For a rural town, we are really blessed with several fitness and wellness venues . Plus, activities that bring people outdoors and get them engaged with nature, fresh air, and community involvement is on the rise.

Branstrom Park is filled with paths and hills perfect for hiking, snow shoe treks, and cross country skiing. One of the counties’ most popular sliding hills is right here, with a lodge and hockey rink near by.

Spectrum Health/Gerber Memorial and Tamarac Wellness exemplify the spirit of wellness that is growing in Newaygo County. With an emphasis on preventative health care, therapy, and life enhancing activities, we are truly        fortunate to have them as a partner in our community.

Our county is one of the most beautiful places to explore any time of the year. With the Manistee Forest in our back yard, there is something for everyone. Are you an avid hunter, shutterbug, fisherman, or bird watcher? Stop by the Visitor’s Center on M-37 or visit www.newaygocountyexploring.com to start your journey.
